The Hispanic Center of Greater Danbury, Inc. received $10,000 from GE Capital Solutions to support the operation of its Bilingual Education Program.

The Hispanic Center of Greater Danbury, Inc. received $10,000 from GE Capital Solutions to support the operation of its Bilingual Education Program.  This program is essential to the Hispanic/Latino community in providing support services to individuals, youth and their families, from pre-school thru high school and continuing education, in navigating the American educational system.  The program, staffed by a Bilingual Education Coordinator, provides coordination and monitoring of the Hispanic Center’s ESL/acculturation programming as well as interpretation/translation services to the school system and academic counseling services, in particular parents of children with special needs.  Furthermore, the coordinator provides clients with information concerning school orientations and enrollment, report cards, and special education.
