The Hispanic Center of Greater Danbury, Inc. is a community based organization assisting the Hispanic population to enter and succeed in the social and economic mainstream of Danbury by:
(1) Facilitating the acculturation to the United States through unique modular programs. Each module, (1to 3 classes), covers basic English skills needed to manage basic real life situations, such as a job interview or a doctor's visit, in addition to the "do's and don'ts" required to assimilate productively in the United States, such as understanding city parking regulations or how to obtain a building permit.
(2) Providing basic health services by screening and referring clients to proper health institutions in the Danbury area, as well as by giving preventative health training to the Hispanic Community through health fairs and group classes. These services aim at improving the well-being of the Hispanic community while at the same time reducing health care costs to the Danbury area.
(3) Offering basic legal services and referrals to resolve disputes such as small claims before they escalate and become a burden to the entire community, as well as legal advice for home rental and knowing one's legal rights.
(4) Advocating on behalf of the Hispanic Community of Greater Danbury in matters such as acculturation to the United States, universal health care insurance, affordable housing, comprehensive federal immigration reform and basic human rights that benefit everyone living in the Danbury area.
